The Deportation Data Project is seeking a fulltime senior research analyst.
The Senior Research Data Analyst will be responsible for overseeing and advancing the Deportation Data Project’s data products, ensuring their accuracy, accessibility, and relevance for research, advocacy, and public understanding. This position leads the verification, analysis, documentation, and publication of immigration enforcement data and translates that data into publicly accessible tools and insights.
The Senior Research Data Analyst will play a central role within the organization, working at the intersection of data analysis, legal and institutional research of immigration enforcement, and public communication. In addition to managing core data functions, the analyst will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders – including journalists, attorneys, researchers, and funders – to support analysis, inform strategic decision-making, and advance the project’s mission. The analyst will also supervise student research assistants.
The full-time position is through UC Berkeley Law School and includes excellent University of California benefits. It is initially for a 12-month contract period with the possibility of extension. The expected salary range is $104,000 – $108,000.
The position is based in Berkeley, CA, but is eligible for up to 20% hybrid work. Exact arrangements are determined in partnership with the supervisor, and are subject to change. Remote work arrangements exceeding 20% of the schedule are subject to additional approval from the direct supervisor and senior leadership.
